From glasswware to glass factory: our history

Murano glass art gallery

We have been producing art glassware since 1934

Almost a hundred years have passed since our grandparents started the V.A.M.S.A. furnace. A courageous enterprise, based on sacrifice, passion, but above all on the craftsmanship that has always distinguished us today as it did then. From one generation to the next, the business has expanded to its current configuration: 600 square meters of space between the furnace where the workers process the glass and the showroom where our Murano glassware products and creations are on sale to the visiting public.

There are many aspects that distinguish our Murano glass factory:

  • Only products of ours or of artisans of the island, with certificates and guaranteed provenance;
  • strategic location, a few steps from the private pier and within walking distance of the taxi boat and tourist ferry docks;
  • porch where you can wait for the start of the visit, sheltered from the sun and rain and with the option of refreshments from the vending machines;
  • disabled access without architectural barriers (ground floor and furnace for guided tours only);
  • admission also allowed to our four-legged friends, at no extra cost;
  • Open all day Monday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (guided tour hours from Spring to Autumn), from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (guided tour hours in Winter) and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (yearly showroom hours);
  • proximity to the main attractions of the city of Murano (Glass Muesum,Churches of Santo Stefano and Santi Maria e Donato) all within walking distance;

We had our own glass-making demonstration in English and it was only €5 per adult while our little children were free. The master craftsman was truly fascinating! A must-see in Venice!

Wonderful demonstration, description in many languages, entertaining master glassblower! The fee is much lower than in other places, too.

High quality glass, supporting local artists End September 2019 There is a lot of pressure to visit places when in Murano and you have to be careful that the Murano glass isn't fake knock offs from China. I can guarantee that this place is authentic Murano Glass [look for the icon] and they also support local or Italian artists. Well done! This shop is frequented by bus loads [boat loads] of tourists so I advise getting there early so you can browse peacefully. Street level is the jewellery and the less expensive items and upstairs are the masterpieces. Be advised they are not cheap but you can negotiate with them, don't be shy. I ended up getting a beautiful fish tank / aquarium like piece [can be viewed from front or back] accompanied with a light stand for E800 that includes postage and insurance, but not custom costs when arriving into your country. [An extra $200+ AUS customs fee]. The artist was Diego Costantini. The item came packaged well and fully operational once customs cleared it. Thanks for the helpful service, friendly interactions and no pressure sales, plus the free set of earrings. I highly recommend this glass shop as authentic and high quality.

Amazing to watch them at work, creativity at its best Murano is a beautiful island that oozes peace and tranquility. Beautiful coloured buildings and houses and lots to explore for such a small place.

Extraordinary to watch them work! We came here as part of a tour of about 25 people and got to watch the glassblowers at work, doing what they did best! It was amazing to watch a man take a molten piece of glass and create a horse out of it in less than 2 minutes. The adjacent shop is pretty expensive, but it's such beautiful stuff and worth it! Take your time here...there's a lot to see!

In Murano and Venice, there are plenty of showrooms where it is possible to buy pieces of artistic glassware. There are also many furnaces, but not all of them are open to the public. We at Ellegi Murano Glass offer a double opportunity in this sense: on the one hand, a guided tour to our glass factory, not far from Venice and therefore easy to reach even in a day thanks to the numerous connections. On the other hand, the possibility of exploring the Ellegi Murano Glass showroom, a two-storey exhibition space with many items of all sizes and types including mirrors, chandeliers, costume jewellery, sculptures and more. A truly wide choice that ensures endless shopping opportunities, from the simplest souvenirs to home furnishings.

And if you can’t take what you want with you, don’t worry. Collaboration with worldwide active freight forwarders allows us to send our Murano glassware by insured courier to every destination, both in Europe and elsewhere. A service that will not fail to satisfy the needs of those who, near or far, want to receive authentic Murano glassware at their address, selecting them on the spot without worrying about anything else. But also, simple and practical for sending a gift to the home of friends or relatives, thus giving the pleasure of a visit to a magical and fascinating place like Murano.

Murano Italy glass factory

We look forward to having you with us and showing you the fruit of our teamwork. Please note that the showroom and the glass factory are both located in the same building, so you won’t have to travel by ferry or other transport systems to get from the tour to the exhibition. Why postpone? Take advantage of our experience and book your next visit to the furnace now. The entrance fee is only 5 euros per person, with no extra charge to enter the showroom. And if you need more information, you can contact our customer service by email or phone without any obligation.
