Experiencing Murano glass means immersing yourself in a truly unique encounter, just as unique as the island of Murano itself and its thousand-year tradition of blown and worked glass. The workshop that some glassworks like ours offer to the general public is perhaps the best way to admire first-hand the skill of the master glassmakers. It is their gestures and movements that enchant, every day, the hundreds of people who come from all over the world to Murano for a love of art or out of simple curiosity. With the grace and mastery that sets them apart, these knowledgeable glass artists shape their material into thousands of different forms and colors, creating delicate and fascinating works such as chandeliers, ornaments, sculptures, mirrors and much more. Watching them live is an experience that is not easily forgotten, whether you are a child or an adult. But what exactly is a glass workshop in Murano? In brief, we can say that:
- a workshop takes place at a glassworks, inside the space where the furnace is located
- the average duration varies from 20 minutes up to 30 minutes and beyond
- the masters perform live creations of one or more glass works, using the techniques of blowing, working, or both
- those who wish may complete the experience with the purchase of a glass work, usually on sale in the gallery area of the glassworks
We at Ellegi Murano Glass have for many years offered a fantastic group workshop, which everyone can attend alone or as a couple, with family or with friends. A workshop that from now on will be enriched with new and even more interesting experiences. We are proud to present the two additional glass experiences that will complement the classic glassworks visit. We are talking about the Prime and Gold experiences, both more intimate and exclusive, with some distinctive features that will delight young and old alike. Let’s take a look.
GLASS EXPERIENCE PRIME AND GOLD: THE NEW WORKSHOPS IN MURANO
For the 2026 season we have planned two exciting workshop proposals, which will complement the classic visit to our furnace. The first proposal is called Glass Experience Prime and is designed to offer a higher level of involvement compared to the traditional visit — both in terms of duration (30 minutes instead of 20) and because the interaction with the master is direct. This is therefore not a standard demonstration, but rather a true workshop where you will be able to address the master with questions and curiosities.
In the second option, called Glass Experience Gold, an additional element comes into play: while the duration and interaction remain the same, each participant will have the chance to take home the object the master creates live during the workshop. A wonderful gift for yourself, or a souvenir for friends and family when you return from your trip. Another aspect worth highlighting: both experiences will take place in a dedicated space, separate from the furnace used for classic visits, ensuring greater privacy and a better welcome. Fittingly, a welcome drink will open the workshop, in both the Prime and Gold version!
THE 3 LEVELS OF INVOLVEMENT IN OUR WORKSHOPS
As you may have already gathered, the Ellegi Murano Glass workshops offer 3 different levels of involvement. In the classic visit you observe the master’s movements without any interaction, whereas in the Prime and Gold workshops you can speak with the master while he works on his creations, clearing up any doubts about this ancient and extraordinary craft. The level of interaction is furthermore greater in the two workshops because they take place in an environment reserved exclusively for this type of experience. But there’s more: in the table below you can compare not only the level of interaction, but also the duration, price and other features of the various experiences.

NOT JUST WORKSHOPS: THE ELLEGI MURANO GLASS SHOWROOM
During the experiences and workshops held every day in our furnace, you will have the chance to follow step by step the glassblowing and working techniques our masters use to shape figurines, ornaments and other works of art. Over the course of 20–30 minutes, your experience will introduce you to many aspects you may not know yet, aspects that could captivate you with their incredible uniqueness. But there’s more: inside our furnace there is a showroom with a vast and varied exhibition of glass works of art. Small and large masterpieces that take the visitor on a journey of discovery through a timeless world, where glass truly seems to come alive with results that are unique every time.
You can enjoy the showroom exhibition before or after taking part in the workshop, with no time limit and no obligation to buy. The showroom spans two levels and is open to the public 7 days a week. Here you can purchase chandeliers, mirrors and anything else you desire — and if you have no way to bring your glass work home with you, don’t worry, we will ship it anywhere in the world, taking care of the packaging down to the last detail and providing you with an up-to-date tracking number through our trusted couriers. HOW TO REACH ELLEGI MURANO GLASS FACTORY
Reaching our glass factory in Murano is really easy. We are located at Fondamenta S. Giovanni dei Battuti, numbers 4b and 5, a short distance from the “Murano Faro” stop (300 meters), served by ferry lines 4.1, 4.2, 3, 12, 13 and 7. Murano can of course become the backdrop for a half-day or full-day visit to the island’s many monuments and attractions, such as the Murano Lighthouse, the Murano Glass Museum or the Church of Santa Maria degli Angeli. A walking tour is a wonderful opportunity to relax, grab a snack at the local bars and get lost in the alleyways of our beloved island. Every season offers a different perspective, different colors and scents — which is why there is no single best time to book one of our glass workshops. In fact, any time of year is the right time!
